Overview & Reviews
For 2004, the Grand Cherokee gets a factory-installed DVD navigation system integrated into the radio. Columbia, Freedom and Special Edition trims are also new for 2004. All of these models incorporate subtle cosmetic touches and equipment upgrades. Additionally, each Columbia Edition Jeep comes with a complimentary Columbia parka.
- Powerful 4.7-liter V8, all-terrain capability, roomy comfort for four.
- Noisy and unrefined, questionable reliability, trucklike on-road handling.

Overland is awesome! - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Jeepdoc - April 3 - 2:00 amAs with previous Jeeps, the maintaing of the vehicle is the secret to its longevity. What can I say? Its a Jeep. It goes when and where I want it to in luxury. The door panels could be a little slimmer. Big peoples knees go where the window switches are. Gas mileage is not terrible but that is not why I bought it.

Grand Cherokee; 8-cyl full-time 4 wd - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Paul_NE - March 29 - 10:00 amJust a wonderful vehicle. This is our fourth Jeep Grand Cherokee and the best by far. Fuel economy is something to get used to (previous Jeeps were 6 cyl) but it was expected. The available "toys" are great too! Navigation is a hoot!

Love my Jeep Cherokee Limited Laredo - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Carolinep70 - March 29 - 10:00 amThis is my 2nd Jeep Ive owned, and will mostly purchase another one in the future. It is an extremly reliable and long lasting vehicle. It maintains it value over years and best of all, I get the better of the both, rides like a car with the power of a truck. It is super fun to drive in the snow!

A very happy repeat Jeep buyer! - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Mike W. - March 7 - 8:56 pmThis is my 7th Jeep vehicle, and 5th Grand Cherokee. The common complaint of the windows not working and/or the interior lights not shutting off is a simple broken ground wire in the drivers door harness. Took me 10 minutes to fix. Overall, Im very pleased with this Jeep, although some things have not lasted as long as older models Ive owned, namely, the hood supports failed at 50k, all 4 shocks leaking at 60k, and rear axle seals at 70k. Other than that, its been rock-solid reliable. Fuel mileage is outstanding for an engine whose roots date back to the early 1960s. By the way, its an inline 6, not a V6 as some reviewers have written. I would and do recommend the Grand Cherokee!

Thanks for making the ultimate vehicle for all my driving needs!!

Tough and Luxurious - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By motordude - February 16 - 12:53 pmThis is the fifth Jeep I have owned and my most favorite. This is the perfect sized SUV. I like this Jeep much better than the 2005 and newer models. The new models have horrible interior materials unlike the 99-04 and the biggest faux pas is that they no longer have that indescribable "Jeep" ride and feel. The 99-04 models have ergonomics that are perfect. Every related function grouped together. All light functions are on the stalk, unlike Toyota for example. Same goes for both front and rear wiper controls; 1 stalk. The heat and air controls are a model of simplicity. 3 round knobs that operate with precision. The best feature is the design and comfort of the leather heated seats

Fun to Drive - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By tmcmull - December 22 - 10:00 amI have had my 2004 GC Loreado for a year and have 16,000 miles. It such a joy to drive, every trip is an adventure. The I6 engine has such great torque it always seems happy to respond. I have always been a driving enthusist, but the Jeep has me thinking up places to go just to drive it. Reliability has been outstanding, I wish I had bought one years ago.

Fun to Drive! - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Pashta - December 21 - 8:00 amIts fun and easy to drive. You have to be a little careful when turning on sharp turns; its not as stable as it could be. Great view of the road and I like the roomy feeling.
